- How is the exact age calculated?
- We count whole calendar years first, then whole months, then the remaining days, the same way you would on a calendar. Someone born on 31 January is one month older on the last day of February.
- How do I convert a Buddhist Era (พ.ศ.) year?
- Subtract 543 to get the CE year, or add 543 to go the other way: 2540 BE is 1997 CE. Switch the year type at the top and the years you've typed are converted for you.
- What if I only know the year of birth?
- Leave the day and month blank. You'll get the age someone turns this year (and one less before their birthday), plus their zodiac year.
- What about people born on 29 February?
- In years without 29 February the birthday is counted on 28 February, so the countdown and “turning” age still work every year.
- How is the Thai zodiac year worked out?
- By calendar year in a 12-year cycle: 2020 was ปีชวด (Rat), 2024 ปีมะโรง (Dragon). Some people start the new zodiac year at Chinese New Year or Songkran instead, so births in January to April may be counted as the previous animal.
